In addition to easy
access to information, technological developments also make it easier for
someone to look for a life partner. Yes, in this sophisticated era, many online
dating sites have mushroomed in cyberspace. You just have to slide and click,
then the date you want will be obtained. However, do you know if women tend to
be more selective in finding online dating partners than men? Check out the
full information below.
Women are more selective in finding online dating partners
Researchers from
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) examined more than 41 thousand
Australians using RSVP dating sites ranging in age from 18 to 80 years.
The study, published in
the journal Psychological Science, found that women under the age of 40 tended
to be more selective in choosing dating partners than men with the same age
range.
The researchers carefully
examined more than 215 thousand relationships, aka the love affair that exists
between users of online dating sites. From the study it was found that there
were significant differences between men and women in determining the criteria
for partners from dating sites.
Women aged 18-30 years
(referred to as peak fertility periods) tend to choose prospective dating
partners based on their educational background.
In that age range, most
women look for couples who have an education level that is equal to or higher
than theirs. Women also tend to be more open about it at all ages.
While most men of the
same age do not specify many criteria when choosing a dating partner from an
online site.
However, the priority of
men in choosing a dating partner tends to change when they are 40 years and
above. Men actually become more selective in choosing dating partners than
their opposite sex.
Why is that?
Apparently there are
psychological reasons that influence a person's priorities in finding a partner
on an online dating site.
In women, the underlying
psychological reasons are influenced by the way they see the quality of one's
education.
In other words, women use
education indicators because they are often associated with social status and
intelligence. Both are the qualities that are most often used as a benchmark in
choosing a spouse.
Conversely, men become
more selective than women at the age of 40 because their standard criteria tend
to increase when they are at the peak of their careers.
So the point is that if
you are a man under 40 years of age, it is likely that your female age will
judge you from your education status.
Whereas if you are a
woman who is looking for a couple aged 40 years and over, you may have a little
difficulty because of the many "conditions" demanded by men in that
age range.
Finding a date on an online site is not as easy as one might imagine
Finding a date on an
online site is actually easy and difficult. This means, you might technically
easily choose a new person who will be a candidate.
However, it is difficult
to establish and maintain that relationship with your "online
partner".
In fact, a study says
that finding a date on an online site is a waste and does not help you get the
right partner as you wish. The experts also concluded that online dating
services are actually less accurate in matching users.
After all, experts also
believe that those who can predict and assess your suitability with someone,
yes, only you. Not a matchmaking search engine.
The reason is, most sites
and dating applications usually estimate the odds of your compatibility with
other users with certain algorithmic formulas. This formula is developed by
matching profile data that you fill with other user's profile data.
So, the decision is
finally in your hands. Are you interested in finding a mate on the internet or
trying an online dating site just to find new experiences and acquaintances?
Whatever the choice, you
must be wise in judging someone and building relationships.
